BIOGRAPHICAL DATA
Born in Gyergyóditró (County Hargita) on March 9, 1936. Currently he works as a teacher of painting at the Arts Liceum in Csíkszereda, himself being a graduate of the College of Applied Arts (named after I. Andreescu) in Kolozsvár (Cluj) (1959). He has been a member of the National Association of Applied Arts since 1966, and acted as President of the regional branch of this association between 1966-89. He has also been a member of the International Association of Applied Arts since 1994, and of the Miklós Barabás Guild since 1995. He was one of the founders at Gyergyszárhegy of the Workshop of Painters (1974), and was its artistic director between 1974-1994.
His works (drawings, graphics) featured in nearly all exhibitions at regional and national exhibitions between 1963-78. He was also present with his works at international venues in Hungary (between 1972-73 and 1990-98 annually in Budapest, Debrecen, Székesfehérvár, etc.), Spain (Barcelona 1974), Poland (Nysa 1987), the United States (New York 1974, Washington D.C. and Pittsburg 1988), Germany (Essen 199l), Ukraine (Ungvár 1992, Munkács and Ungvár 1993), Japan (Toyama 1993), France (Laon 1992, Hirson 1993 and 1995, Bessans 1998), Yugoslavia (Szabadka 1996), Sweden (Lund 1996, Eskilstuna and Stockholm 1997, Bromma and Stockholm 1998).
His works can be seen in his home country (Marosvásárhely, Csíkszereda, Kézdivásárhely, Székelyudvarhely, Gyergyószentmiklós, the County Hall at Szárhegy), as well as in national and international collections (Austria, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland, Israel, The Netherlands, Sweden, Ukraine, Hungary, The United States of America, Yugoslavia).
Decorations: M. Káplár Prize (1972, 1973, Hajdúböszörmény-Hungary), Pro Urbe Prize (1996, Csíkszereda), T. Boromisza Prize (199, Debrecen).
Monumental Works: Cantata Profana (jointly with Árpád Márton and Árpád Pálfy, ceramics-mosaic piece in the Cultural Centre, Csíkszereda, 1967), mosaic facade of the Cultural Centre at Gyergyószentmiklós, jointly with Árpád Márton, 1974), church vitros, jointly with László Egri (Tusnádfürdõ, 1984), several panneaux (Hajdúhadház 1994, 1997, Debrecen 1997).
